Texas Woman Told to Remove 'Offensive' American Flag From Office

For those of you who don't have the time to read the article, this article is talking about how Debbie McLucas, a women in Texas, was told that the American Flag that she wanted to hang in an AMERICAN hospital was offensive. As Memorial Day approached, she wanted to hang the flag in her office (which she shared with 3 other people) in honor of all of those who have and still do serve our country. McLucas's daughter is currently serving our country over in Iraq. Instead of being praised for this show of patriotism, instead, she found the flag in her office around a pole and sitting in the corner on the ground. Hospital administrators have stated that the complaints were not about what the flag symbolized, but instead the size of the flag. They have also stated that they have invited the McLucas to hang the flag back up. This is after they claimed that one American flag being flown outside of the hospital was sufficient enough for showing patriotism and the appreciation of the military. I find it interesting to note that one of the complaints about the flag came from an African immigrant who has been here for 14 years.

Here are my thoughts:
First of all, I think it is outrageous that we live in a country where we say we have the freedom of speech and expression, but yet we cannot even hang our nation's flag. I think it is ridiculous that in an attempt to honor those who died (so that we may have the rights we take for granted so many times,)people find it to be "offensive." The only thing that is offensive is the idea that people will not let others express their gratitude for those lost. Even if the problem was not with the flag itself, but instead with the size as the hospital claims, I still see it to be outragreous that people who live in this country would complain because of the size.

I would like to say one thing to those people who complained about the flag and to those who still complain about the flag today (rather complaining about the flag in the hospital or just in general), If you have a problem with our American Flag that is being hung in AMERICA, then you can get the hell out of here! If you are not proud of this country, then here's the door! Until you have the balls to leave because you aren't happy here, then don't complain and keep those of us who are proud from showing our support! Don't complain when someone shows their support for those people who died serving your sorry butt and dying so that you can complain against such patriotic actions!
